South Korea’s Unification Ministry says North Korea has accepted its offer to attend high level talks next week. Their acceptance came through a cross-border hotline that was reactivated two days ago. The two sides are expected to discuss key issues, including North Korea’s possible participation in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.

In a major step ahead of floating shares in its national oil firm, Saudi Arabia says it has changed the status of Amoco to a joint stock company. An official bulletin said Amoco had fully paid capital of 16 billon dollars. The sale of around 5% of Amoco is expected to go ahead this year.

Zhang Jianlong, the director of State Forestry Administration says the government wants to increase China’s forest coverage to 23% of its total land mass.
