① at the base意為“在底部；基礎(chǔ)”。

There is a waterproof layer at the base of the building. 樓房的底部有防水層。

We camped at the base of the mountain. 我們在山麓宿營。

② at the bottom意為“在底部，在下面”。

They found a sunken ship at the bottom of the lake. 他們在湖底發(fā)現(xiàn)一艘沉船。

③ at the foot意為“在底層，在基部，在……下端”。

There is a lake at the south foot of the mountain. 在山的南麓有一個湖。

They used to be at the foot of the social ladder. 他們過去是在社會最底層。

④ at the feet of意為“在腳跟前，在足下”。

He fell at the feet of the enemy. 他屈服在敵人的腳下。
