113　believe，believe in和trust

① believe意為“相信，認(rèn)為”，表示相信某人的話或某事的真實性，或表達(dá)一個想法（也許是錯誤的想法）。

I believe his story. 我相信他所說的。

I believe it to be a fact. 我相信這是事實。

I believe her. 我相信她的話。

I don't believe a word of what he said. 他的話我一句也不信。

② believe in sb.表示兩種含義：①信任某人，②信仰、信奉某種思想觀念。

I believe in her. 我信賴她。

He believes in communism. 他信仰共產(chǎn)主義。

They don't believe in God. 他們不信上帝。

I can believe him，but I cannot believe in him. 我可以信其言，但我不能信賴其人。

He believes in keeping early hours. 他主張早睡早起。

提示

注意下面一句：

I believe what he said because I believe in him. 我相信他的話因為我信任他。

③ believe的其他結(jié)構(gòu)：

believe sb.（to be）+形容詞或名詞

be believed to be+形容詞或名詞

be believed to do sth.

believe+that從句

We all believe her（to be）honest. 我們都相信她是誠實的。（to be可?。?

She is believed to be honest. 她被認(rèn)為是誠實的。（to be不可?。?

I can hardly believe that he failed in the exam. 我簡直不敢相信他考試會不及格。

④ trust強(qiáng)調(diào)相信某人的品德、為人、能力等。trust in表示“依靠、信賴某人”。

比較

I never trust him. 我從不信任他。

I trust her. 我信任她。（=I believe in her.）

I never trust in him. 我從不信賴他。

I trust in his competence. 我相信他是勝任的。

提示

①trust sb. with sth. 和trust sth. to sb. 表示“把某事交托給某人”。

②trust to表示“盲目信賴”。

Don't trust to luck. 光靠運(yùn)氣是不行的。
