① bewilder的語(yǔ)氣較重,表示使人陷入一種驚奇、茫然、局促不安的境地。
The way he changes his mind three or four times a day is utterly bewildering. 他一天之內(nèi)就要改變?nèi)拇沃饕猓媸墙腥嗣恢^腦。
② confuse(put into disorder,mix up in the mind)指因混淆而產(chǎn)生迷亂,把事情弄錯(cuò),語(yǔ)氣最輕微,詞義最廣泛。
He is given to making long and confused speeches. 他一說話就是一大篇,語(yǔ)無倫次。
Those long personal names sometimes have me confused. 那些長(zhǎng)的人名有時(shí)把我搞糊涂了。
③ puzzle(cause it difficult to explain or understand)著重使人難以理解、回答、解決,檢驗(yàn)人的機(jī)智和耐心。
The patient's illness puzzled the doctor;he couldn't find the cause. 那病人的病把醫(yī)生難住了,他找不出原因。
The children are puzzled how the world came into being. 孩子們對(duì)世界是怎樣形成的感到迷惑不解。
④ perplex指對(duì)問題難于理解,有顧慮,更強(qiáng)調(diào)不知如何抉擇或如何對(duì)付,語(yǔ)氣比puzzle強(qiáng)。
I am perplexed at the problem. 這個(gè)問題我不理解。
The problem was hard enough to perplex even the teacher. 這問題很難,把老師都難住了。
⑤ baffle指某事物或現(xiàn)象使人感到糊涂、驚奇或不能理解。
The magician baffled the audience with his trick. 這位魔術(shù)師的戲法令觀眾迷惑、驚奇。
