559　proclaim，announce，declare和claim

① proclaim的語氣較announce正式，指官方宣布重大事件，諸如外交政策、法令等，后可接名詞、that從句或復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)。

The mayor proclaimed Monday as a city holiday. 市長宣布星期一為該市假日。

The young prince was later proclaimed king. 后來宣布那位年輕的王子繼承王位。

The government proclaimed that a big rally would be held to celebrate the National Day. 政府宣布將舉行一個(gè)大的群眾集會(huì)來慶祝國慶。

② announce指發(fā)布公眾感興趣的事情，內(nèi)容可指國家、地方、生產(chǎn)、商品等方面的消息。

He announced immediate action. 他宣布馬上采取行動(dòng)。

The ceremony was announced for 9 am. 據(jù)通告，儀式于上午9時(shí)舉行。

③ declare可指公開場合表明對某事的態(tài)度或官方公開、鄭重地宣布某事，也可指在非正式場合直截了當(dāng)?shù)臄嘌浴?

In 1812，the United States declared war on Britain. 1812年，美國向英國宣戰(zhàn)。

④ claim表示要求承認(rèn)某種權(quán)力，享有所有權(quán)或身份。
