EVENING AT HOME

家人團(tuán)聚的夜晚

It is winter. The cold wind whistles through the branches of the trees.

現(xiàn)在正值冬季，冷風(fēng)呼嘯著吹過樹枝。

Mr. Brown has done his day's work, and his children, Harry and Kate, have come home from school.

布朗先生結(jié)束了一天的工作。 他的孩子哈里和凱特也從學(xué)校放學(xué)回到了家。

They learned their lessons well today, and both feel happy.

Tea is over. Mrs. Brown has put the little sitting room in order. The fire burns brightly.

One lamp gives light enough for all. On the stool is a basket of fine apples. They seem to say, "Won't you have one?"

Harry and Kate read a story in a new book. The fatherreads his newspaper, and the mother mends Harry's stockings.

By and by, they will tell one another what they have beenreading about, and will have a chat over the events of the day.

一會兒，他們要把所讀到的內(nèi)容講給彼此聽，還要閑聊一下白天發(fā)生的事情。

Harry and Kate's bedtime will come first. I think I see them kiss their dear father and mother a sweet good night.

哈里和凱特的睡覺時間到了。我看到他們親了親親愛的爸爸和媽媽，并祝福他們度過一個甜蜜的夜晚。

Do you not wish that every boy and girl could have a home like this?
