【笑話原文】

Your Grandfather

A well-dressed young man demanded as soon as he entered the restaurant. "Serve me, quick! Give me your best. I don't care the price."

Not like the way he talked, the waiter said to him: "Hey Buddy, it doesn't matter you have a lot of money. You are still son of somebody, and grandson of somebody else."

The young man raged: "Dare you! Tell me, who wants me to be his grandson?"

The waiter replied with ease: "Nobody. Just your grandfather."

一位衣冠楚楚的年青人一進飯店就大聲嚷嚷：

“喂，有什么好菜盡管端上來，錢多少我不在乎。”

服務(wù)員聽了很不是滋味：“哥兒們，錢多有什么用，你不照樣得做別人的兒子，就是有人要你做孫子你也不敢不做!”

年青人勃然大怒：“誰敢占w的便宜?你說，是誰不要命了，膽敢要我做他的孫子?”

服務(wù)員慢條斯理地答道：“你的爺爺!”

【詞匯講解】

1.demand強烈要求。She demanded a room all to herself.她強烈要求自己一個人住一個房間。

2.as soon as一…就。Come here as soon as you finish the work.工作一結(jié)束你就到這里來。

3. serve服務(wù)。也可以指“向…供應(yīng)”：The restaurant serves nice food.這家飯館供應(yīng)的飯菜不錯。“度過(某段時間)”：She served two years in prison for theft.她因偷竊服了兩年刑。

4. buddy老兄。也可以指“伙伴”：We’re good buddies.我們是好朋友。作動詞是“親近”的意思：She buddied up to Laura, hoping to get to know her brother.她和勞拉來往， 希望結(jié)識她的哥哥。

5.Dare you! 你敢/好大的膽子。

6.ease泰然自若。作動詞有“使安心”的意思：The news that her child was safe eased her mind.孩子平安的消息使她放心了。
