A Big Sissy

One summer evening, during a violent thunderstorm, a mother was tucking her small boy into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, “Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?”

The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. “I can’t dear, ” she said, “I have to sleep with Daddy.”

A long silence was broken at last by a scornful voice saying, “The big sissy. ”

詞匯講解】

1. Violent 暴力的，猛烈的：a violent clash with the police 與警察的暴力沖突， violent television programmes 暴力電視節(jié)目

2. Thunderstorm 雷暴。thunder 是“雷”，storm是“風(fēng)暴”，這個(gè)合成詞就是“雷暴”的意思。
