Look and see which of your companions have the most friends, and you will find that they are those who have this noble spirit;

who are willing to deny themselves, that they may make others happy.

There is but one way to make friends; and that is, by being friendly to others.

交友的辦法只有一個(gè)，就是對(duì)人友善。

Perhaps some child who reads this feels conscious of being disliked, and yet desires to have the affection of his companions.

可能有的孩子讀到這里意識(shí)到自己不受人喜歡，可是希望得到伙伴們的情誼。

You ask me what you shall do. I will tell you.

你問(wèn)我該怎么做，我會(huì)告訴你。

I will give you an infallible rule: Do all in your power to make others happy.

我會(huì)給你一條絕對(duì)有效的法則：盡全力使他人幸福，

Be willing to make saCRIfices, that you may promote the happiness of others.

愿意為促進(jìn)他人的幸福做出犧牲。

This is the way to make friends, and the only way.

這就是交友之道，唯一的交友之道。

When you are playing with your brothers and sisters at home, be always ready to give them more than their share of privileges.

當(dāng)你在家里和兄弟姐妹玩，你應(yīng)該總是愿意給予他們更多的權(quán)利。

Manifest an obliging disposition, and they can not but regard you with affection.

顯示一顆樂(lè)于助人的心，他們會(huì)把愛(ài)心給你。

In all your intercourse with others, at home or abroad, let these feelings influence you, and you will receive a rich reward.

在你和他人的交往中，不論在家里還是外面，擁有這種感情，你就會(huì)得到豐厚的回報(bào)。
