25.2　簡(jiǎn)單句中的省略

25.2.1　陳述句中的省略

1) 在日常生活中我們會(huì)用到很多省略句：

Happy New Year. ——The same to you. 新年快樂(lè)。 ——也祝你新年快樂(lè)。

Many happy returns (of the day). （生日祝賀語(yǔ)）祝你長(zhǎng)壽。

Have a pleasant journey. 祝旅途愉快。

Goodbye and good luck to you! 再見(jiàn)，祝你好運(yùn)！

What awful luck! 真倒霉！

Must have gone down town. 準(zhǔn)是進(jìn)城了。

How nice to see you! 看到你真高興！

What a nice day! 多好的天氣！

Just wonderful! 好極了！

Hope to see you well soon. 祝你早日康復(fù)。

So pleased to have made your acquaintance. 認(rèn)識(shí)了你真高興。

2) 在回答別人問(wèn)題時(shí)，?？墒÷阅承┏煞郑?

Will you join us? ——Well, I'd love to. 你愿意參加我們的活動(dòng)嗎？——愿意。

Have you had your supper? ——Not yet. 吃晚飯了嗎？ ——還沒(méi)有。

Shall I call a doctor? ——Do, please. 我要不要去請(qǐng)醫(yī)生？ ——去請(qǐng)吧。

Are you ready? ——Not quite. 準(zhǔn)備好了嗎？ ——沒(méi)完全好。

How are things going? "Pretty well." “情況如何？”“很不錯(cuò)？”

How is the weather? ——Going to clear up. 天氣怎么樣？ ——快放晴了。

Are your hungry? ——Not very. 你餓嗎？ ——不太餓。

What's your family name? ——Johnson. 你姓什么？ ——約翰遜。

How do you feel? ——Just a bit tired. 你感覺(jué)怎樣？ ——稍有點(diǎn)累。

Where are you going? ——To the library. 你去哪兒？ ——圖書(shū)館。

3) 在對(duì)別人的話作出反映時(shí)也可以用省略句：

It looks like rain. ——Yes, somewhat. 看來(lái)要下雨了。 ——是的，有點(diǎn)像。

I guess it's an ancient temple. ——Very likely. 我猜那是一座古廟?！芸赡?。

I'dlike to ask one or two questions if I may. ——Certainly. 如果可能我想問(wèn)一兩個(gè)問(wèn)題。 ——當(dāng)然可以。

I hope I'm not disturbing you too much. ——Certainly not. 希望我沒(méi)過(guò)分打擾你。 ——當(dāng)然沒(méi)有。

I hope you won't mind me joking. ——Not in the least. 希望你不介意我的笑話。 ——一點(diǎn)都不介意。

This is a good solution. ——Sure. 這是個(gè)很好的解決辦法。 ——是的。

也可提出問(wèn)句：

George isn't coming. ——Why? 喬治不來(lái)了。 ——為什么？

The conference is to be held next week. ——Where? 會(huì)議下周開(kāi)。——在哪里開(kāi)？

She bought a new car. ——When? 她買(mǎi)了一輛新車(chē)。 ——什么時(shí)候買(mǎi)的？

They're going to emigrate to New Zealand. ——Are they? 他們準(zhǔn)備移民到新西蘭。 ——是嗎？

25.2.2　疑問(wèn)句、祈使句和感嘆句中的省略

1) 疑問(wèn)句有時(shí)可以有詞省略：

Had your breakfast? 吃過(guò)早飯了嗎？

Anything I can do for you? 我能幫你做什么嗎？

Anybody against it? 有人反對(duì)嗎？

Going to the supermarket? 到超市去嗎？

A nice man, isn't he? 他是個(gè)好人，是吧？

Going to be a nice day, isn't it? 今天天氣會(huì)很好，是吧？

Why bring that up? 為什么要提起此事？

What next? 下一步怎么辦？

2) 祈使句中也可以有詞省略：

Gently, please. 請(qǐng)輕一點(diǎn)。

A little more slowly. 再慢一點(diǎn)。

Quick! 快！

Just a minute. 稍等一會(huì)兒。

A strawberry milk-shake, please. 請(qǐng)給我一份草莓奶昔。

Attention! 立正！

Editor-in-chief's office, please. 請(qǐng)接總編輯室。

Quiet, please! 請(qǐng)安靜點(diǎn)！

3) 感嘆句也有省略現(xiàn)象：

What a beautiful picture! 多美的畫(huà)！

How nice of you to come! 你來(lái)了真好！

Very good! 很好！

Excellent! 好極了！

Just wonderful! 太妙了！

Rubbish! 胡說(shuō)八道！

Such an intelligent girl! 這樣聰明的姑娘！

Just lovely! 太美了！

另外，在報(bào)紙標(biāo)題或文章標(biāo)題中也常常出現(xiàn)省略句：

Senator to Seek Reelection 參議員爭(zhēng)取再次當(dāng)選

A baby born on a plane 飛機(jī)上誕生嬰兒
