I'm putting my wilderness survival skills to the test in a man-made underground labyrinth. 我將我的野外生存技能運用在 這個人造的地下迷宮

There's another tunnel leading off this way. 這里有另一個隧道

There's putrid sewage up to my waist,and I need to be careful where I put my feet. 腐臭的污水深及腰部 我需要小心下腳之處

There's a step here.It's shallower here,but the stench of sewage is still overpowering. 這兒有個臺階 這兒更昏暗了 但污水的惡臭依然排山倒海

Stinks. It smells like a sewer here. 太臭了 聞起來像是下水道的味道

Sewers are like underground highways linking urban areas,so they're good for getting from place to place. 下水道就像是連接都市的地下高速公路 所以這是個很好的逃生途徑

But there are some serious drawbacks. 但是也有一些嚴重的缺點

Bacteria from human excrement can actually get into your body through so many different ways. 事實上人類糞便中的細菌 可以通過不同方式進入你的體內(nèi)

You know, not only through cuts and grazes,but also actually through your nose and your mouth just by breathing it in. 你知道 不僅通過割傷和擦傷 還會通過鼻子和嘴巴的呼吸進入身體

Diseases like cholera and typhoid can be carried in sewage bacteria, 污水細菌可以攜帶霍亂和傷寒這樣的疾病

so I want to limit my exposure as much as possible. 所以我要盡量少將自己暴露在這種環(huán)境下

It's also worth keeping the torch low, actually. 事實上保持火把處在低處也是很必要的

Excrement's gonna give off methane,and that's lighter than air, 糞便會釋放出甲烷 甲烷比空氣輕

so it's gonna rise, and you often get trapped pockets of it.And methane's highly explosive. 會升起 你常常會身陷其中 而且甲烷是高度爆炸性的物質(zhì)

Poisonous gases like ammonia and hydrogen sulfide may also be present,so I don't want to hang around. 氨和硫化氫等有毒氣體也會存在 所以我可不想到處閑逛

But these tunnels run for miles in all directions,and exits are few and far between. 但是這些隧道西面八方綿延數(shù)英里 出口卻寥寥可數(shù)

Let's go this way.I can feel a cold airflow,and I'm gonna follow it. 我們走這邊 我能感覺到一股冷空氣 我要順著它走

There's also a light source coming from this side tunnel. 那兒還有一絲光源從這邊的隧道透過來
