哦，瑪麗，去牛舍看看，

And call the cattle home,

去牛舍，喚喚牛兒，

And call the cattle home,

去那里，看看牛兒可在。

Across the sands o' Dee!

于是，她穿過(guò)迪河沙灘，

The western wind was wild and dank with foam,

寒風(fēng)肆虐，浪花翻卷，

And all alone went she.

她竟然，獨(dú)自前往。

The creeping tide came up along the sand,

潮水蠕動(dòng)著，漫過(guò)沙灘，

And o'er and o'er the sand,

嘩啦啦，一浪高過(guò)一浪，

And round and round the sand,

就那樣，周而復(fù)始，

As far as eye could see;

遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)望去，極目窮盡。

The blinding mist came down and hid the land—

濃密的霧靄，籠罩大地，

And never home came she.

她竟然，再也沒(méi)有回來(lái)。

Oh, is it weed, or fish, or floating hair?

哦，那是野草、魚(yú)兒、絲帶？

A tress o' golden hair,

或者，樹(shù)的金色枝條？

O' drowned maiden's hair,

或者，閃爍迷人的鮭魚(yú)，

Above the nets at sea.

盤(pán)桓在，險(xiǎn)惡的灘涂？

Was never salmon yet that shone so fair

天呀，那是溺水少女的頭發(fā)，

Among the stakes on Dee.

纏繞在，近海漁網(wǎng)的旁邊；

They rowed her in across the rolling foam,

越過(guò)海浪，漁民的小船劃近，

The cruel, crawling foam,

波濤翻涌中，艱難穿行，

The cruel, hungry foam,

嗜血的魔鬼，撲打過(guò)來(lái)，

To her grave beside the sea;

殘忍地，將她無(wú)情吞沒(méi)，

But still the boatmen hear her call the cattle home,

依然聽(tīng)見(jiàn)，瑪麗凄厲地呼喊，

Across the sands O' Dee.

久久回蕩，在迪河的沙灘。
