難道我們要祈求和卑下地哀求嗎?
What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted?
我們還有什么沒有窮盡的辦法嗎?
Let us not, I beseech you, deceive ourselves longer.
沒有了。我懇求諸位，不要在欺騙自己了。
We have done everything that could be done, to avert the storm which is now coming on.
為防止暴風雨的到來，我們所能做的一切都做了。
We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves at the foot of the throne,
我們已經(jīng)請愿了;我們已經(jīng)抗議過了;我們已經(jīng)在王權(quán)的腳下拜倒過了，
and implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and parliament.
乞求它的干預(yù)能夠制止政府和國會伸出殘暴的手。
Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult;
我們的請愿受到輕蔑;我們的抗議則導(dǎo)致變本加厲的暴力和傷害;
our supplications disregarded; and we have been spurned with contempt from the foot of the throne.
我們的乞求沒人理會;我們拜倒在王權(quán)腳下得到的結(jié)果就是遭到唾棄。
In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation.
在所有這一切都徒勞無益后，我們?nèi)匀槐в泻推脚c和解的希望。
There is no longer any room for hope.
現(xiàn)在看來，希望已化為泡影。
If we wish to be free; if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending;

if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged,
唯愿我們的本意不是下賤地放棄我們長久以來一直致力，
and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained—we must fight!
以及一直告誡自己絕對不能放棄，直到我們爭取的光榮目標獲得實現(xiàn)的高尚的斗爭——我們必須戰(zhàn)斗!
I repeat it, we must fight!
