The former king of Spain Juan Carlos has abruptly left the country for non-known destination, weeks after he was linked to an investigation into alleged corruption. In a letter to his son Felipe, to whom he handed power six years ago, Juan Carlos said he would better serve the Spanish people by living abroad. The former king has not commented on the corruption allegations but in the letter acknowledged that they were damaging.

The Peruvian President Martín Vizcarra has signed a decree exempting foreign doctors and nurses from having to validate their degrees during the coronavirus pandemic. The decision would enable thousands of qualified Venezuelan health workers to join the Peruvian public health system, which is struggling to cope with the virus.
