Today let's discuss the mode of transportation of the steel we ordered.
Transport by sea is the most important mode of transportation in the world today.
I think air transportation is the best way to make sure the goods to arrive at the destination safely and promptly.
The way of combined transport has complicated formalities.
It is simpler and cheaper for both of us to arrange multimodal combined transport.
1.We'd better have a brief talk about the loading port.
2.It will cause a lot of problems in our transportation.
3.The transportation fare is not decided by us, but by the airplane company.
4.We would suffer a loss in this transaction if we agreed to the air transportation.
5.If you agree to ship these goods by sea, I can get you a low charge on transportation.
6.As air freight is much more closely than sea freight and we want to save as much money as possible, we will want the shipment by sea.
7.If you insist on transporting the goods by air, I am afraid we have to raise the price on a CIF basis.
8.We think it necessary to move the articles by the way of combined transportation.
A:It's essential to choose the right means of transportation.
B:Yes. To ensure faster delivery, you are asked to forward the order by air freight.
Today let's discuss the mode of transportation of the products we ordered.
Generally speaking, it's cheaper but slower to ship goods by sea than by rail .
It's faster but more expensive to ship goods by air.
by rail是指“火車裝運”,其等同于by train 。
A:We have to make transshipment because there is no suitable loading port in the producing country.
B:Don't you think it is troublesome to transship the goods?
We understand tramps are still available.
In case of transshipment, we have to pay extra transportation charges.
As direct steamers to your port are fewer, we have to ship via Hong Kong more often than not.
A:I'd like to talk about the shipment then, OK?
B:That's good. Would you tell me your shipment of the goods?
A:We usually ship the goods by regular lines.
B:Could you consider prompt shipment for this set of commodity?
A:No, I'm afraid it's difficult for us to do so, because we cannot get all the goods from our manufacturers soon.
B:When is he exact deadline of the loading period?
A:In order to make it easier for us to get the goods, we hope that partial shipment will be allowed.
B:The goods we ordered are seasonal goods. So I hope it will be better to ship them all at one time.
A:I am very sorry for we can't ship them all at one time, because it happens that there is no direct steamer from here to your port in these two months. I was informed by our Shipping Department yesterday that liner space for Sydney up to the end of next month has been fully booked. I'm afraid we can do very little about it.
B:We know tramps are still available.
B:Yes, but tramps are scarce. I am not sure whether there would be enough tonnage to make a full cargo, even if a tramp could be obtained.
A:Have you thought of transshipment?
W:Yes, but transshipment adds to the expenses, risks of damage and sometimes may delay arrival because there is also a shortage of transshipment space for Sydney.
A:Of course we prefer direct shipment, but if you can't get hold of a direct vessel, we may agree to have the goods transshipped. You know, good quality and competitive price would mean nothing if goods could not be put on the market on time.
B:What you say is fully right, we can understand this, and we'll find out the situation about the connecting steamer right away.

A:Hello, is that Mr. Zhou?
B:Yes, speaking.
A:Hi, this is Jack Green calling.
B:Good morning, Mr. Green. What can I do for you?
A:I'm calling to find out how would you like your order of products, by air or by sea?
B:We need part of that order by next week, so we would like to do a partial air shipment.
A:How much of it do you want shipped by air?
B:We'd like to ship half the order by air and the rest by sea.
A:Okay. Do you want us to use our freight forwarding agent?
B:Actually, we've got a freight forwarder over there. I'll fax you their contact information.
A:All right. We can deliver that half to your agent tomorrow morning.
B:That would be great.
A:I'm not sure what the shipping schedule will be for the sea freight.
B:No hurry. We're not in a big rush for the second half of the order.
A:All right. I'll let you know the shipping details later and I'll send you the shipping documents as soon as I get them.
B:Very good. We'll be expecting to hear from you. And thanks for calling.
A:好的。
