INTRODUCTION
Celia is sitting at a street café one day, drinking coffee, when suddenly she sees an old school friend, Amanda. The two women are happy to talk about old times and the men in their lives. They always like very different men, of course...

PERFORMANCE NOTES
The scene is a street café. There are tables and chairs outside. The waiter sometimes comes out of the café to see if anyone wants anything. Celia is sitting at one of the tables. She is wearing a big, expensive ring on the ring finger of her left hand.
You will need a cup of coffee, a bottle or glass of coke, and Celia's ring.
Amanda is walking past the café. Celia suddenly sees her and calls to her.
CELIA
Amanda? Is it you?
AMANDA
Sorry? Do I know you?
CELIA
Of course you do. It's me, Celia. We were at school together.
AMANDA
Celia! How wonderful to see you again!
CELIA
Do you remember me now?
AMANDA
Oh yes, but you do look different.
CELIA
Older, perhaps?
AMANDA
Well, yes.
CELIA
Well, I am older! So are you! Sit down and have a drink with me.
AMANDA
Yes, why not? (She sits down at the table.)
CELIA
What are you going to have? Coffee?
AMANDA
Oh, a coke, I think.
CELIA
(Calling) Waiter! (The waiter comes to the table.)
WAITER
Good morning. What would you like?
CELIA
A coffee for me, please, and a coke for my friend.
WAITER
Would you like a sandwich or anything? They're very good.
CELIA
No, no, thank you. Just the drinks.
WAITER
Right. (He goes off.)
AMANDA
Well, this is nice! When did we last meet? About fifteen years ago, was it?
CELIA
Twenty-five, Amanda.
AMANDA
Twenty-five? No! It can't be! Do you sometimes see any of our old friends?
CELIA
No, no, I don't.
The waiter brings the drinks and puts them on the table.
WAITER
Here you are, one coffee and one coke.
AMANDA
(To him) Thank you. (To Celia) I say, do you remember Rod Hunk? All the girls liked him! What happened to him, do you think?
CELIA
Oh, I don't know. I didn't like him much. But what about Rocky Rambo? You and he were together at one time, I think.
AMANDA
Ah yes, but he left me years ago.
CELIA
Oh, I am sorry.
AMANDA
No, no, I was happy when he left. I was tired of him, you know. It's always much better to find a new boyfriend! Much more exciting!
CELIA
Perhaps you're right. And what about Romeo Valentine? You went out with him, too.
AMANDA
Oh yes, but I left him. Time for a change, I thought!
CELIA
Oh, I see.
AMANDA
And what about you, Celia? Are there any men in your life at the moment?
CELIA
(Looking shyly down at the big expensive ring on her finger) Well...
AMANDA
Oh, Celia, do tell me!
Are there any men in your life at the moment?'
CELIA
Well, there is a man in my life, and I'm going to marry him next week!
AMANDA
You're going to marry him! Wonderful! Tell me all about him.
CELIA
He's called Robert. He's very handsome, but very shy. He's coming here soon, to meet me.
AMANDA
His name's Robert? Well, well, well! You know, I met a very handsome man last night, and he was called Robert, too. But he wasn't shy! Not at all! He asked me to call him Bob.
CELIA
My Robert doesn't like the name Bob.
AMANDA
Well, I met this Bob in a café and we had a few drinks. And then we went out to dinner. And then we went dancing. Oh, we had a wonderful time!
CELIA
My Robert doesn't like dancing.
AMANDA
We talked and laughed and danced, and drank and danced and laughed, and then... But what about you and Robert? What do you usually do?
CELIA
Oh well, Robert likes a quiet evening with me at my house. We read, and watch television. Sometimes we go out to the cinema.
AMANDA
Do you? Bob wants to see me again next week. He calls me Mandy. I like that.
CELIA
Robert isn't interested in drinking or dancing or meeting girls. He's a very quiet person.
Oh, we had a wonderful time!'
AMANDA
Bob isn't quiet. Not at all!
CELIA
I'm his first girlfriend, you see. So this is all new to him. Oh look, here he comes now!
Robert comes in, from behind Amanda. He can't see her face. He kisses Celia.
ROBERT
Hello, Celia, darling!
CELIA
Robert, darling! I'd like you to meet an old school friend. Amanda, this is Robert.
ROBERT
How do you do?
AMANDA
How do you do? (Looking up into his face) Oh no! It's you! Bob!
ROBERT
(Seeing her face) Oh no! It's you! Mandy!
CELIA
(Angrily) Robert!
ROBERT
What can I say? I'm sorry! I'm very, very sorry!
Robert runs off. Celia and Amanda run after him.
AMANDA
Bob! Bob! We must talk about all this! I want to see you again!
CELIA
Robert! Robert! Come back here at once! Are you going to marry me or not?
ROBERT
Help! Help! Help!
The waiter comes in.
WAITER
Would you like to pay now? (He sees them running away.) Hey, come back!
He runs angrily after them.

場(chǎng)景是一家街頭咖啡館，有露天桌椅。服務(wù)生不時(shí)從咖啡館出來(lái)看看有沒(méi)有人需要服務(wù)。西莉亞坐在其中一個(gè)座位上。她的左手無(wú)名指戴著一枚昂貴的大戒指。
要準(zhǔn)備一杯咖啡、一瓶或一杯可樂(lè)，還有西莉亞的戒指。
阿曼達(dá)路經(jīng)咖啡館。西莉亞突然看到她，把她叫住。
西莉亞：
阿曼達(dá)？是你嗎？
阿曼達(dá)：
你是？我認(rèn)識(shí)你嗎？
西莉亞：
你當(dāng)然認(rèn)識(shí)。是我呀，西莉亞。我們一起上過(guò)學(xué)。
阿曼達(dá)：
西莉亞！真高興又見(jiàn)面！
西莉亞：
你現(xiàn)在想起我來(lái)了？
阿曼達(dá)：
哦，是的，可是你的樣子真的變了。
西莉亞：
是不是變老了？
阿曼達(dá)：
呃，是的。
西莉亞：
嗯，我確實(shí)變老了！你也一樣！坐下跟我喝一杯吧。
阿曼達(dá)：
好啊，為什么不呢？（她在桌旁坐下。）
西莉亞：
你要點(diǎn)什么？咖啡？
阿曼達(dá)：
哦，我要可樂(lè)。
西莉亞：
（喊道）服務(wù)生?。ǚ?wù)生來(lái)到桌旁。）

服務(wù)生：

西莉亞：
不，不了，謝謝。只要飲料。
服務(wù)生：
好的。（服務(wù)生下場(chǎng)。）
阿曼達(dá)：
唔，真是不錯(cuò)！我們上次見(jiàn)面是什么時(shí)候？大概15年前了，是吧？

25年前了，阿曼達(dá)。
阿曼達(dá)：

服務(wù)生端來(lái)飲料，放在桌子上。
服務(wù)生：

阿曼達(dá)：
（對(duì)服務(wù)生）謝謝。（對(duì)西莉亞）我說(shuō)，你還記得羅德·漢克嗎？當(dāng)初所有的女孩都喜歡他！你覺(jué)得他后來(lái)怎么樣了？
西莉亞：
哦，我不知道。我不怎么喜歡他。倒是羅基·蘭博怎么樣了？我想你曾經(jīng)跟他在一起過(guò)。
阿曼達(dá)：
啊，是的，不過(guò)好多年前他就離開(kāi)我了。
西莉亞：
哦，我真的很遺憾。
阿曼達(dá)：
不，不，他離開(kāi)的時(shí)候我很高興。你要知道，那時(shí)候我已經(jīng)厭倦了他。男朋友新的總比舊的好！要帶勁兒得多！
西莉亞：

阿曼達(dá)：
那你呢，西莉亞？現(xiàn)在你的生活里有男人嗎？
西莉亞：
（羞澀地低頭看手指上昂貴的大戒指）嗯……
阿曼達(dá)：
哦，西莉亞，跟我說(shuō)說(shuō)！
西莉亞：
好吧，我生活里確實(shí)有個(gè)男人，而且我下個(gè)星期就要嫁給他了！
阿曼達(dá)：
你要嫁給他了！太好了！給我好好講講他。
西莉亞：
他叫羅伯特。他很帥，但是很害羞。他過(guò)會(huì)兒就來(lái)這兒跟我見(jiàn)面。
阿曼達(dá)：
他叫羅伯特？哎呀，哎呀！你知道嗎，我昨晚認(rèn)識(shí)了一個(gè)很帥的男人，他也叫羅伯特。但是他可不害羞！一點(diǎn)兒也不害羞！他讓我叫他鮑勃。
西莉亞：
我的羅伯特可不喜歡鮑勃這個(gè)名字。
阿曼達(dá)：
嗯，我在一個(gè)咖啡館里遇到這個(gè)鮑勃，一起喝了幾杯。然后我們一起出去吃飯，后來(lái)我們還去跳舞。哦，我們?cè)谝黄鹜娴瞄_(kāi)心極了！
西莉亞：
我的羅伯特不喜歡跳舞。
阿曼達(dá)：
我們又說(shuō)又笑，一起跳舞，一起喝酒，又跳舞，笑個(gè)不停，后來(lái)……不過(guò)你和羅伯特怎么樣？你們一般都做什么？
西莉亞：
哦，羅伯特喜歡待在我家，跟我安安靜靜過(guò)一個(gè)晚上。我們看書(shū)，看電視。有時(shí)候我們出去看電影。
阿曼達(dá)：
是嗎？鮑勃下個(gè)星期還想見(jiàn)我。他叫我曼迪，我喜歡他這么叫我。
西莉亞：
羅伯特對(duì)喝酒啦、跳舞啦還有跟姑娘約會(huì)都沒(méi)興趣。他是個(gè)很安靜的人。
阿曼達(dá)：
鮑勃可不是個(gè)沉默的人。一點(diǎn)兒也不！
西莉亞：
你要知道，我是他的第一個(gè)女朋友，所以他沒(méi)什么經(jīng)驗(yàn)。哦，看，他來(lái)了！
羅伯特從阿曼達(dá)背后上場(chǎng)。他看不到她的臉。他吻了吻西莉亞。
羅伯特：
你好，西莉亞，親愛(ài)的！
西莉亞：
羅伯特，親愛(ài)的！我想讓你來(lái)見(jiàn)見(jiàn)我上學(xué)時(shí)的老朋友。阿曼達(dá)，這就是羅伯特。
羅伯特：
你好。
阿曼達(dá)：
你好。（抬頭看向他的臉）哦！是你！鮑勃！
羅伯特：
（看到她的臉）哦！是你！曼迪！
西莉亞：
（生氣地）羅伯特！
羅伯特：
我說(shuō)什么好呢？我很抱歉！我非常非常抱歉！
羅伯特逃跑。西莉亞和阿曼達(dá)在后面追他。
阿曼達(dá)：
鮑勃！鮑勃！我們得把這一切說(shuō)清楚！我還想跟你見(jiàn)面??！
西莉亞：
羅伯特！羅伯特！快回來(lái)！你到底還要不要和我結(jié)婚？
羅伯特：
救命！救命！救命??！
服務(wù)生上場(chǎng)。
服務(wù)生：
你們現(xiàn)在能把賬結(jié)了嗎？（他看到三人跑走。）嘿，回來(lái)！
他生氣地去追他們。
