《美國(guó)諜夢(mèng)》 間諜的另一面

In 1990, US writer Joe Weisberg was asked to jointhe Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). At that time,Weisberg intended only to be a spy. But after twodecades out of the CIA, he reentered his formerworld with FX’s The Americans as a producer.

1990年，美國(guó)作家喬•韋斯伯格受邀加入CIA(美國(guó)中情局)。 那時(shí)，韋斯伯格只想做一名間諜。但是在離開中情局二十年后，他又重返“間諜”的世界，成為FX電視臺(tái)《美國(guó)諜夢(mèng)》的制片人。

 

 

The espionage series is set in the 1980s when the US and the former Soviet Union wereembroiled in the Cold War. It revolves around two Soviet security agency spies, Elizabeth (KeriRussell) and Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys), who pretend to be a US couple with theirunwitting children in the northern Virginia suburbs while secretly helping the Soviets infiltratethe US. Their neighbor, Stan Beeman (Naoh Emmerich), happens to be an FBIcounterintelligence agent who is trying to unmask foreign spies.

這部諜戰(zhàn)劇以二十世紀(jì)80年代美蘇冷戰(zhàn)為背景，劇情圍繞兩名潛伏在美國(guó)的前蘇聯(lián)間諜伊麗莎白(凱麗•拉塞爾 飾)和菲利普•詹寧斯(馬修•瑞斯 飾)展開。他們喬裝成一對(duì)美國(guó)夫婦，與毫不知情的孩子們住在弗吉尼亞北部郊區(qū)，秘密協(xié)助前蘇聯(lián)勢(shì)力滲透美國(guó)。他們的鄰居斯坦•畢曼(諾亞•艾默里奇 飾)正是FBI(聯(lián)邦調(diào)查局)反情報(bào)秘密行動(dòng)探員，專門負(fù)責(zé)揭露外國(guó)間諜。

Weisberg’s four years’ experience serving for the CIA, what he learned in his training, and whathe heard from other spies helped him make this story more convincing. In every episode,your heart will be in your throat as the couple courts danger in order to complete their mission.

Espionage isn’t a new television genre. What makes The Americans stands out is that thecreator brought a focus on family and relationships. Having pretended to be a married couplefor a long time, Elizabeth and Jennings struggle with conflicting feelings for each other.

諜戰(zhàn)劇并非新劇種，《美國(guó)碟夢(mèng)》能脫穎而出是因?yàn)樗P(guān)注了家庭和人與人的關(guān)系。劇中，伊麗莎白和菲利普因長(zhǎng)期假扮成夫婦而對(duì)彼此產(chǎn)生了十分矛盾的情愫。

“The Americans is at its core a marriage story. International relations is just an allegory forhuman relations. Sometimes, when you’re struggling in your marriage or with your kid, it feelslike life or death. For Philip and Elizabeth, it often is,” Weisberg told Slate online magazine.

“《美國(guó)碟夢(mèng)》本質(zhì)上是一個(gè)講婚姻的劇。國(guó)際關(guān)系不過(guò)是對(duì)人與人間關(guān)系的隱喻。有時(shí)，婚姻中的掙扎，或與孩子的相處，都會(huì)讓你感覺(jué)如同遇上了性命攸關(guān)的事。對(duì)于菲利普和伊麗莎白來(lái)說(shuō)，亦是如此。” 韋斯伯格在接受美國(guó)知名網(wǎng)絡(luò)雜志Slate采訪時(shí)如是說(shuō)。

Before The Americans, most spies and agents on screen were cold, as they invested moreenergy and time into their job with little attention being paid to their family. For example,because of his vocation, 24’s Jack Bauer lost his wife and had a tumultuous relationship withhis daughter.

在《美國(guó)諜戰(zhàn)》推出之前，熒屏上的間諜或特工大給人的感覺(jué)大都冷酷、不近人情，他們把更多的時(shí)間和精力投入到工作之中，卻很少關(guān)注自己的家人。比如在美劇《24小時(shí)》中，杰克•鮑爾就因職業(yè)的緣故，失去了妻子，并和女兒關(guān)系緊張。

On Jan 28, the third season of The Americans opened with frictions escalating between thecouple as pressures from their job increased and they faced the toughest decision ever:whether to reveal their true nature to their kids and whether to let their 14-year-old daughterPaige become a spy. I believe the Paige dilemma is sure to push the series to a new climax.

1月28日，《美國(guó)碟夢(mèng)》第三季一開播，夫妻二人的矛盾再度升級(jí)，他們不僅要承受工作壓力，還要面臨最艱難的抉擇：是否要告知孩子們他們的真實(shí)身份?又是否要讓他們14歲的女兒佩吉也成為一名間諜?我相信，佩吉的困境將把本劇推向一個(gè)新的高潮。
