Death takes us away in mysterious ways. And while we can’t know for sure when or how we’ll leave this world, it’s the fact itself that we have to make peace with. Exploring the possibilities of the afterlife, artist Jenny Jinya created a few comics, and they’re really touching as well.
One is about a good boy who passed away a lot sooner than you’d expect, and the other is about an equally good lady whose black fur stopped a lot of people from getting to know her.
While these works deal with a difficult subject matter, Jenny has found a way to present death as something hopeful, rather than devastating. And who knows, maybe it isn’t as bad as we picture it?
“There are dozens of posters and infographics with various statistics about abandoned or abused animals. Many know the problems, but such information is quickly forgotten,” Jenny told Bored Panda. “I try to give a voice to the victims with my comics. I want the affected pets to be able to tell their own stories. I hope I can raise awareness this way.”
The artist said she can’t decide if death is just a state or the beginning of a new adventure: “Who knows. I’m not the one to answer that. But I like to imagine death as a person who is just doing their job. People hate them for what they’re doing, but in the end, someone has to do it. I like to imagine Death to be a gentle and insightful being.”
