In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure dome decree：
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertiIe ground
With walls and towers were girdled round：
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree；
And here were forests ancient as the hills，
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.
But oh！that deep romantic chasm which slanted
Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover！
A savage place. as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon lover.
And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething，
As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing，
A mighty fountain momently was forced：
Amid whose sift half-intermitted burst
Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail，
Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher's flail：
And'mid these dancing rocks at once and ever
It flung up momently the sacred river.
Five miles meandering with a mazy motion
Through wood and dale the sacred river ran，
Then reached the caverns measureless to man，
And sank in tumult to a lifless ocean：
And'mid this tumult Kubla heard from far
Ancestral voices prophesying war！
The shadow of the dome of pleasure
Floated midway on the waves；
Where was heard the mingled measure
From the fountain and the caves.
It was a miracle of rare device，
A sunny pleasure dome with caves of ice！
A damsel with a dulcimer
In a vision once I saw：
It was an Abyssinian maid，
And on her dulcimer she played，
Singing of Mount Abora.
Could I revive within me
Her symphony and song，
To such a deep delight would win me，
That with music loud and long，
I would build that dome in air，
That sunny dome！those caves of ice！
And all who heard should see them there，
And all should cry, Beware！Beware！
His flashing eyes, his floating hair！
Weave a circle round him thrice，
And colse your eyes with holy dread，
For he on honeydew hath fed，
And drunk the milk of Paradise.

忽必烈在上都頒了一道昭書：
建一座堂皇奢華的歡樂宮。
這地方有圣河亞佛流奔，
那宮殿多洞穴難測其底。
那河流流到海深暗蒙迷。
那皇官占土地方圓十里，
四周圍上樓塔和城墻：
那里有花園，蜿蜒的溪河在其間閃耀，
園里樹枝上鮮花盛開，一片芬芳；
御園內(nèi)樹參天與山同古，
樹林間草如茵陽光充足。
那園間有深谷浩渺玄妙，
沿青山跨松林斜插遠(yuǎn)岙。
蠻荒地顯神圣久具魅力，
恰似那微月下有女出沒，
此女子為她的魔鬼情郎而凄聲嚎哭！
有巨泉自深谷噴涌而出，
似乎這土地正喘息在快速而猛烈的悸動(dòng)中，
又恰似急呼吸蒼茫大地。
那飛瀑噴涌間時(shí)續(xù)時(shí)斷，
夾帶著大碎石如冰雹亂竄，
或者像打稻人連枷下一撮撮新稻；
在這些舞蹈的碎石中間，
迸發(fā)出那條神圣的溪河。
五里路蜿蜒流入迷宮，
穿森林越深谷水流淙淙，
于是到達(dá)了深不可測的洞門，
到最后帶咆哮流入無聲息的海中。
咆哮中忽必烈側(cè)耳聆聽，
遙遠(yuǎn)處諸遠(yuǎn)祖預(yù)示戰(zhàn)爭！
歡樂宮有倒影
宛在水波的中央漂動(dòng)；
這兒能聽到泉聲與洞穴和諧的音韻，
讓人聽得真真切切。
此宮設(shè)計(jì)得頗具天工，
陽光燦爛的歡樂宮，連同那雪窟冰窖！
幻覺中我曾看見
彈古琴的一麗媛。
她來自東非海岸，
口唱阿巴拉山歌，
手揮古老的五弦。
她的容顏與歌曲都已飄逝，
我如果能憶起，
我將會(huì)大欣喜。
以至于我要用音樂高朗而又長久，
我能在空中建樓閣。
建起那朝陽宮，還有那雪窟冰窖！
聽音樂的人都能看見，
他們?nèi)紩?huì)喊：當(dāng)心！當(dāng)心！
他，發(fā)彩飄飛，雙眼如電！
趕緊繞他轉(zhuǎn)三圈，
心帶神圣畏懼閉上了雙眼，
他以天國瓊漿為飲，

背景知識(shí)
塞繆爾·泰勒·柯勒律治（Samuel Taylor Coleridge），英國詩人和評(píng)論家，他的詩以其想像奇特，撲朔迷離，并追求象征、虛幻的哥特式風(fēng)格與中古風(fēng)格而著稱。他一生是在貧病交困和鴉片成癮的陰影下度過的，詩歌作品相對較少。盡管存在這些不利因素，柯勒律治還是堅(jiān)持創(chuàng)作，確立了其在幻想浪漫詩歌方面的主要浪漫派詩人地位。
