托福詞匯之“serial killer連環(huán)殺手”

　　墨西哥前職業(yè)女摔跤運動員“沉默夫人”被訴自2006年以來連續(xù)殺害十幾位老年婦女，并于近日被判入獄759年。

　　該報道中，female serial killer 就是 “女連環(huán)殺手”。serial 在這里是形容詞，意指 of, pertaining to, consisting of, or occurring in a series rather than simultaneously (連續(xù)的，一系列的);它也可以用作名詞，指anything published, broadcast, etc., in short installments at regular intervals, as a novel appearing in successive issues of a magazine (連載)，例如：serial pictures (連環(huán)畫)，serial stories (連載小說)，serial drama (連續(xù)劇)等。
