1. 用作名詞主要用于 a good [great] deal (of):
(1) a great [good] deal of 之后通常接不可數(shù)名詞:
He seems to have a good deal of money. 他似乎有很多錢。
He has done a great deal of traveling. 他旅游了很多地方。
有的詞書上說也可接可數(shù)名詞,但很不常見,初學(xué)者不宜模仿使用:
have a great deal of friends 有很多朋友 (見《牛津現(xiàn)代英漢雙解辭典》p. 30(2)
(2) a great [good] deal 可用作主語、賓語、狀語 (修飾動詞或形容詞,尤其是比較級):
At the end of the year there was a great deal to do. 年底有很多事要做。
I’ve heard a great deal about him. 關(guān)于他的情況我聽說了很多。
We see each other a great deal. 我們經(jīng)常見面。
I was a good deal surprised. 我非常吃驚。
She’s a great deal better today. 她今天好多了。
2. 用作動詞,注意以下用法:
(1) 表示“分給”或“分配”,常與 out 連用:
The money was dealt out fairly. 錢分配得公平合理。
I dealt out two apples to each child. =I dealt out each of the children two apples). 我給每個小孩發(fā)了兩個蘋果。
(2) 用于 deal with, 意為“處理”、“對付”、“對待”、 “論述”、“做買賣”等:
How shall we deal with this matter? 這事我們怎么處理?
I don’t know how to deal with him. 我不知怎樣與他相處。
This book deals with educational problems. 這本書論述教育問題。
We often deal with that shop. 我們經(jīng)常在那家商店買東西。
(3) 用于 deal in, 意為“做…買賣”、“出售”、“經(jīng)營”:
The shop deals in clothes. 這家商店經(jīng)營服裝。
