奧巴馬和默克爾呼吁今年完成美歐貿(mào)易談判

Barack Obama and Angela Merkel have called fortalks over a transatlantic trade deal to be completedthis year as fears mount that the opportunity toreach an agreement is slipping away.

巴拉克•奧巴馬(Barack Obama)和安格拉•默克爾(AngelaMerkel)呼吁在今年完成一項跨大西洋貿(mào)易協(xié)定的談判。目前人們越來越擔心達成協(xié)議的機遇正在流失。

The US president used a visit to Hanover in Germanyon Sunday to try to breathe new life into theTransatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership,which has been beset by political opposition in the US and Europe.

美國總統(tǒng)利用周日訪問德國漢諾威的機會，試圖為《跨大西洋貿(mào)易與投資伙伴關(guān)系協(xié)定》(TransatlanticTrade and Investment Partnership，簡稱TTIP)注入新活力。該協(xié)定目前在美國和歐洲都遭到了政治反對。

“I am confident we will get this done,” Mr Obama said, talking about completing thenegotiations this year. But he said time was “not on our side”, calling on all European leaders tosupport the deal and not “let this opportunity close”.

“我相信我們會完成這項工作，”奧巴馬表示。但他表示，時間“不站在我們這一邊”，他呼吁所有歐洲領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人支持這項協(xié)定，而不要讓“這扇機遇大門關(guān)閉”。

President Obama was in Germany after a visit to Saudi Arabia and the UK where he waded intothe Brexit debate, urging Britain to remain in the EU.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Mr Obama went out of his way to praise the Germanchancellor, who has been one of his closest confidants among international leaders but whosedomestic political standing has been undermined by the migrant crisis.
