英國國防大臣因性騷擾指控辭職

Sir Michael Fallon has resigned as defence secretary following allegations about his personal behaviour.

邁克爾•法倫爵士(Sir Michael Fallon)在受到有關(guān)他個人行為的指控后辭去了國防大臣的職務(wù)。

The Tory veteran has been caught up in the sexual harassment scandal sweeping Westminster after it emerged he had repeatedly put his hand on a journalist’s knee during a party conference dinner in 2002.

這名保守黨老將卷入了席卷威斯敏斯特的性騷擾丑聞，此前他被曝在2002年的一次保守黨會議聚餐期間一再把手放在一名記者的膝蓋上。

Announcing his decision to resign, Sir Michael said: “In the past I have fallen below the high standards that we require of the armed forces that I have the honour to represent.”

And the UK’s first secretary of state, Damian Green, is under investigation over an allegation of inappropriate sexual behaviour, as a growing number of victims come forward with complaints about mistreatment at Westminster.

與此同時，英國首席國務(wù)大臣達(dá)米安•格林(Damian Green)也正因受到性不當(dāng)行為的指控而被調(diào)查。目前有越來越多的受害者站出來投訴在威斯敏斯特遭受的委屈。

Downing Street’s decision to open the investigation of Mr Green, who denies the allegations, comes after the emergence on Tuesday of the most serious claims yet about sexual misconduct in British politics. Bex Bailey, a former youth representative on the Labour party’s National Executive Committee, said she was raped at a party event in 2011 but discouraged from reporting the attack.
