An elderly woman in the United Kingdom was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being knocked to the ground by a motorcycle escorting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

英國一名老年婦女被劍橋公爵和公爵夫人乘坐的摩托車撞倒在地，傷勢嚴(yán)重，被送往醫(yī)院。

Prince William and Kate were on their way to a ceremony in Windsor on Monday (local time) when a marked police motorbike in their convoy was involved in a collision with the 83-year-old woman in southwest London.

The woman was initially taken to hospital by ambulance in a critical condition, Scotland Yard said. She now remains in a serious condition.

倫敦警察廳表示，這名女子最初被救護車送往醫(yī)院，情況危急。她現(xiàn)在的情況仍然很嚴(yán)重。

The duke and duchess are "deeply concerned and saddened" by what happened and have been in touch with the woman who they say is called Irene, Kensington Palace said.

肯辛頓宮表示，威廉王子和凱特王妃對所發(fā)生的一切“深感關(guān)切和悲痛”，并一直與他們所說的艾琳保持著聯(lián)系。

"Their Royal Highnesses have sent their very best wishes to Irene and her family and will stay in touch throughout every stage of her recovery," a statement said.

It is believed the Duke and Duchess have also sent the woman flowers and plan to visit her soon.
