調(diào)侃總統(tǒng)

　　Vote for Regan or he’ll cry.

　　感言：選里根的原因值得推敲，他哭可以給糖果或巧克力，但選他當總統(tǒng)可要慎重。

　　即使里根辯論時只睡30秒，麻煩也不會小。

　　If Regan goes to sleep for even thirty seconds during the debates he’ll be in a lot of troubles

　　感言：里根年齡大了，精力不濟，人們擔心他辯論時睡著了，所以里根最好在辯論前喝點兒濃咖啡。

　　我總是有點兒緊張，一個75歲的人說他愿意為他的國家獻出自己的生命。

　　I always get a little nervous when a man of seventy-five says he’s going to give his life for his country.

　　感言：這種緊張是有道理的，本來可能是自然死亡卻可能得到因公殉職的補恤金，這個里根!

　　如果里根碰上嚴重點兒的危機，他下午就睡不成覺了。

　　If Ronald Regan ever faces some terrible crisis, he’ll really spend sleepless afternoon.

　　感言：但是里根沒覺得什么是嚴重的危機。

　　年齡超過70歲的總統(tǒng)只有一個優(yōu)點——他不必聽媽媽的。

　　There is an advantage of a president being over seventy, that is he doesn’t have to listen to his mother.

　　我們應該象對待大學生一樣對待里根，給他一個小測驗——說出你孫子輩的名字。

　　We should treat the President like a college student, and give him a pop quiz ----- name your grandchildren.

　　注：諷刺里根可能連孫子的名字都寫不全。

　　我不會把年齡作為這次競選的話題，我不想利用我競選對手的年輕沒有經(jīng)驗來占他什么便宜。

　　I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I am not going to exploit my opponent’s youth and inexperience.

　　感言：里根對對手辯論時攻擊他年齡的經(jīng)典回答，在這以后他的對手不再攻擊他的年齡了。

　　里根可不是你們平常說的那種政治家，他不知道怎么去說謊，去欺騙，去偷，他早有代理做那些事兒。

　　Regan is not your ordinary kind of politician. He doesn’t know how to lie, or cheat or steal. He’s always had an agent for that.

　　感言：沒有什么特殊原因我們都不應該去偷。

　　里根已經(jīng)發(fā)現(xiàn)當總統(tǒng)不象他想得那么容易，事實上他準備要一些特技費。

　　Regan has discovered that the Presidency isn’t as easy as he thought. In fact he’s going to demand stunt pay.

　　感言：里根敢于提合理的要求。

　　南希(里根夫人)和里根在床上，南希說，“上帝!你的腳這么涼。”里根回答，“在床上時你可以叫我“根”。”

　　Nancy was in bed with Regan. She said, “My God, your feet are cold.” He said, “When you’re in bed you can call me Ron.”

　　感言：里根把自己當成上帝了。
