7. The amazing pet

A man went into a pet shop and told the owner he wanted to buy a pet. But, he didn't want an ordinary, garden variety pet! He wanted a pet that could do everything!

The shop owner suggested a faithful dog. The man replied, "Come on, a dog?" The owner said, "How about a cat?" The man replied, "No way! A cat certainly can't do everything. I want a pet that can do everything!"

The shop owner thought for a minute and said, "I've got it! A centipede1!" The man said, "A centipede? I can't imagine a centipede doing everything, but okay... I'll try a centipede."

So he got the centipede home and said to it ,"Clean the kitchen." 30 minutes later, he walked into the kitchen and amazingly found that the kitchen was cleaned. He then said to the centipede, "Go clean the living room." 20 minutes later, the living room was cleaned.

The man thought to himself, "This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. This really is a pet that can do everything!" Next he said to the centipede, "Run down to the corner and get me a newspaper."

The centipede walks out the door. The man waited for a long time, but there is no centipede. So he went to the front door and opened it, there was the centipede sitting right outside.

The man said, "Hey!!! I asked you down to the corner store 3 hours ago to get me a newspaper. What happened?!"

The centipede says, "I'm going! I'm going! I'm just putting on my shoes!"

神奇的寵物

一個(gè)男子走進(jìn)一家寵物店，告訴店主他想買一只寵物。但他不想要一只普通的花園型寵物，他想要一只能做任何事情的寵物。

店主建議他買一只忠心耿耿的狗，男子說(shuō)：“得了吧，狗？”店主說(shuō)：“貓?jiān)鯓樱俊蹦凶踊卮穑骸安恍?，貓?dāng)然不能做一切事情，我想要能做任何事情的寵物?！?

店主想了一會(huì)，說(shuō)：“有了！一只蜈蚣！”男子說(shuō)：“一只蜈蚣？我無(wú)法想象蜈蚣能做任何事情，不過(guò)好吧，我試試?！?

于是他把蜈蚣帶回家對(duì)蜈蚣說(shuō)：“清理廚房。”30分鐘后，他走進(jìn)廚房驚喜地發(fā)現(xiàn)廚房被打掃得干干凈凈。于是他對(duì)蜈蚣說(shuō)：“去打掃起居室?！?0分鐘后，起居室被打掃干凈了。

這個(gè)男子想：“這是我見過(guò)的最神奇的事情，這真的是一只能做任何事情的寵物?！彼又鴮?duì)蜈蚣說(shuō)：“去街拐角處幫我買份報(bào)紙回來(lái)?！彬隍甲叱鲩T去了。

這個(gè)男子等了很久都不見蜈蚣的蹤影。于是他走到前門，打開門，看到蜈蚣正坐在門口。

男子說(shuō)：“嘿，我3個(gè)小時(shí)以前派你去拐角處的商店買份報(bào)紙，怎么還在這里？！”

蜈蚣說(shuō)：“我正要去，我正要去，我正在穿鞋呢！”
