PATSY CLINE：

One of the greatest singers in the history of country music, Patsy Cline also helped blaze a trail for female singers to assert themselves as an integral part of the Nashville-dominated country music industry. She was not alone in this regard; Kitty Wells had become a star several years before Cline's big hits in the early '60s. Brenda Lee, who shared Cline's producer, did just as much to create a country-pop crossover during the same era; Skeeter Davis briefly enjoyed similar success. Cline has the most legendary aura of any female country singer, however, perhaps due to an early death that cut her off just after she had entered her prime.

　　Georgia Gibbs原名Fredda Gibbons，1920年8月17日出生于麻省的Worcester。從15歲開始就在廣播電臺(tái)的Hit Parade和Camel Caravan節(jié)目中表演。1938年和Hudson-Delange樂隊(duì)一起表演時(shí)的名曲有《If We Never Meet Again》，1940年和Frankie Trumbauer合作時(shí)的名曲有《Laziest Girl In Town》，1942年和Artie Shaw樂隊(duì)合作時(shí)的名曲有《Not Mine》，《Absent Minded Moon》。也就是在這段期間，她改名為Georgia Gibbs。隨后，在Jimmy Durant/Garry Moore主持的廣播節(jié)目時(shí)，Moore給她起了個(gè)‘Her Nibs’的外號(hào)。她堅(jiān)定而準(zhǔn)確的嗓音以及良好的藝人風(fēng)范令她在1950到1959間獲得15支排行榜前40位的歌曲。最開始的兩支是Coral唱片公司發(fā)行的《If I Knew You Were Comin’》及《I’d’ve Baked A Cake》。
　　1951年，她和Mercury唱片公司簽了約。她52年演唱的《Kiss Of Fire－火之吻》是由一支阿根廷探弋《El Choclo》改編的。53年演唱的《Seven Lonely Days－七個(gè)寂寞的日子》則是原來(lái)Bonnie Lou唱到鄉(xiāng)村排行榜前10位的一支歌曲。她唱的熱門曲多是翻唱的R&B歌曲。如：55年原來(lái)LaVerne Baker唱的《Tweedle Dee》，《Dance With Me Henry》是改動(dòng)了歌詞的原Hank Ballard的歌曲《Work With Me Annie》，以及Ballard，Johnny Otis，Etta James的性感歌曲《Roll With Me Henry》等。
　　后來(lái)，她不斷的改變合作的唱片公司，先是跳到RCA公司。然后58年到Rou8lette公司，出了她最后一支進(jìn)入排行榜前40位的《The Hula-Hoop Song》。后又在Mercury公司錄了含有《Swinin’ With Her Nibs》一曲的專輯。63年在Epic公司錄了《Georgia Gibbs》，64年在Imperial公司錄了《Something’s Gotta Give》。64年以后，她在意大利過(guò)著半隱居的生活。
