Asinine 僅有形容詞功能，指人的判斷力、智慧或事物的情況差到極點(diǎn)，語意為“愚笨的，十分驢的，糟糕的，亂七八糟的，莫名其妙的”等。通常所形容的名詞有：idea，suggestion，excuse，comment，remark等。

1. There were no “Do Not Dive” signs posted. 沒有“禁止跳水”的告示牌貼出來。posted是過去分詞，省去了一個(gè)形容詞從句 that were posted.

注：

1.紐約州立大學(xué)學(xué)生抗議州府刪減大專教育經(jīng)費(fèi)，用油漆到處噴涂抗議標(biāo)語，該校?？u(píng)清理油漆比清除粉筆要費(fèi)錢費(fèi)事。

2.同一格式可以引用“This is an asinine excuse.(這是說不通的借口)”。另如“This is an asinine remark.(這真是胡說八道)”，“That was an asinine suggestion.(那簡直是莫名其妙的建議)”。在適當(dāng)?shù)那闆r下，也可用驚嘆語式，如“What an asinine comment！ (這算什么評(píng)論!)”，或“What an asinine remark!(簡直胡說八道)”。

這些短語都是名詞性質(zhì)，可做主語、賓語、補(bǔ)語之用。
