某些連綴動詞如look, sound, smell, taste, feel, seem, appear, become, get等后面接形容詞，若是修飾動詞則必須用副詞。
You look pale. Anything wrong? 你臉色蒼白，怎么啦？
Jim's mother looked angrily at him after she read his school report. Jim的媽媽看過他的成績單后，生氣的看著他。
His suggestion sounds ridiculous. 他的建議聽起來很可笑。
The man sounded the gong noisily. 那個人很大聲的敲鑼。
The soup tastes good. 這湯很好喝。
The chef always tastes food critically. 大廚品嘗食物都很挑剔。
