Being Creative
American schools are very enthusiastic about teaching "life skills" --- logical thinking, analysis, and creative ways to solve problems. The most important part of the lessons is the process, which trains the child to handle whatever life presents, including the future. Actual content of the lessons is secondary. Both teacher and student regard pure memorization as uncreative and somewhat vulgar.
