As shown in the picture，the students from Class 2，Senior 1 Xiangyang High School are having an English class．They are divided into groups and have heated discussions with the group members．Some are expressing themselves while others are taking notes．They all take active part in the group activity．

The picture reminds me of my participation in group activities in the English class．When I was in Senior 1 or Senior 2，I often participated in group study，which really benefited me a lot．We exchanged our ideas in English，took notes and prepared for the presentation of our group work．As far as I'm concerned，I think it's a good way to have group activities in teaching．

In the first place，students will get involved in class actively rather than listen to the teacher passively．When discussing with the classmates，students have to think about the topic and form their own opinions，while they are more likely to be absent-minded when listening to the teacher merely．In the course of group activity，they will also listen to the others' opinions which will stimulate their own thoughts．Secondly，group activities benefit students in that they can improve their abilities of learning as well as communication．Learning through group activities，students can enjoy the course of discovering and exploring the truth and deal with the problems they meet with by themselves or through teamwork，which will definitely improve their self-study abilities and communication skills．What's more，group talk in English class also gives a chance to us to practice our oral English．

As is mentioned above，having group activities in class is such a beneficial teaching method that is appealing to our teachers to have a try．
