B: So that’s all the more reason she should be in school, so I should maybe push just a little more. Sometimes tough is kind.

A: 別對Geraldine那么兇。她是逃了學，但是在家你已經(jīng)罰過她了。

B: 那她就更應該呆在學校里，看來我應該更加嚴厲點。有的時候嚴厲是仁慈。

go soft: 心軟。使決心或決定動搖。

cut school: 逃學。曠課是cut a class.

get it tough: 受罰;受訓。

push: 逼某人。

kind: 指這個表達來源于德語的kinder(孩子)。形容人體諒他人，善良，從不有意傷害別人。
