A: So what was the hardest thing about the trip?
 
你們這次騎行之旅中最難的事情是什么？
 
B: The hardest thing was seeing this country which is so beautiful with such amazing people but struggling in so many different ways with so many different things. You know, historically the legacy of Pol Pot on the country and this huge discrepancy between the rich and the poor. So as we're cycling along these unpaved roads beside farmers on carts that are being pulled by water buffalo, there's these huge four by fours screaming through not paying any attention to anybody. There's no law, there's no road law, so they could drive whatever speeds they wanted, tearing up the earth, causing accidents. I witnessed an accident and that was particularly hard to deal with. The car that caused the accident didn't stop and the guy that was left in the dust didn't have much chance. You know the locals I guess tried to get him to a hospital or whatever but the medical conditions, there's not much going on in terms of rural hospitals. People are still dying from poor sanitation, water, malaria, these kind of things that we should be able to eradicate, you know, instantly. We have the knowledge and the know how to do but still struggling with that. And, you know, being aware that education is so important and that people aren't getting it.
 
最難的就是看到這個(gè)風(fēng)景如此漂亮、居民如此友好的國(guó)家，卻因?yàn)楹芏嗍虑榭嗫鄴暝?。你知道，從歷史上看，貧富差距懸殊是波爾布特留給這個(gè)國(guó)家的遺產(chǎn)。我們沿著土路騎行時(shí)，看到有農(nóng)民坐著水牛拉的四輪車，這輛四輪車一直發(fā)出刺耳的聲音，可是沒(méi)有人在意。因?yàn)闆](méi)有道路法，所以他們可以想開(kāi)多快就開(kāi)多快，然后會(huì)擾亂道路，引發(fā)交通事故。我目睹過(guò)一場(chǎng)很難應(yīng)對(duì)的交通事故。肇事車輛撞人以后沒(méi)有停車，被撞的人躺在泥土里，沒(méi)有多少活命的機(jī)會(huì)。當(dāng)?shù)厝擞性噲D送傷者去醫(yī)院，可是由于醫(yī)療條件有限，鄉(xiāng)村醫(yī)院沒(méi)能救活那個(gè)人。那里的人們會(huì)因?yàn)閻毫拥男l(wèi)生條件、污水、瘧疾而死亡，而這些都是我們可以根除的問(wèn)題。我們有知識(shí)有技能，可是仍因?yàn)檫@些事情掙扎痛苦。雖然知道教育有多重要，可是人們無(wú)法接受教育。
 
A: Yeah. What was the best thing about the journey?
 
對(duì)。那旅行中最棒的事情是什么？
 
B: The best thing about the journey was going to this place that was so, that seemed so exotic and getting to see, you know, how people lived there and how they smile at everybody. You know, everybody in Cambodia was so friendly and so peaceful and so, I don't know, welcoming. It made me realize like how privileged I really am in life and things that I take for granted. You know my education and the choices I have and things like that. And the beauty and mystery of Angkor Wat is, I mean it's an incredibly, it's one of the world's, it's one of the seven wonders of the world I think these temples, these incredible temples, getting to go there and we took some of the kids from the school there. These kids who live in the area who never actually ever been there. We went on a school trip with them and took them and they got to go through, going through these temples and the jungle with these young kids and it was really awesome.
 
這次騎行中最棒的就是能去那些充滿異國(guó)情調(diào)的地方看看，了解那里人們的生活，他們會(huì)對(duì)所有人微笑。柬埔寨所有人都非常友好、非常安靜，而且很熱情。這讓我意識(shí)到我的生活中有多少特權(quán)，還有我認(rèn)為是理所當(dāng)然的那些事。我接受了教育，我有選擇權(quán)。吳哥窟的美和神秘非常不可思議，吳哥窟是世界七大奇跡之一，我認(rèn)為那些寺廟非常神奇，我們帶當(dāng)?shù)貙W(xué)校的一些孩子去了吳哥窟。這些孩子雖然生活在那里，卻并沒(méi)有去過(guò)吳哥窟。我們和這些孩子一起去了幾所學(xué)校，還帶他們?nèi)チ四切┧聫R，和孩子們一起旅行，感覺(jué)真是太棒了。
 
A: That's a great experience.
 
這真是愉快的經(jīng)歷。
 
B: Yeah.
