Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Parents spend too much time trying to help determine the future of their children, children should be allowed to make their own choices.
To begin with, children making decisions by themselves is conducive tohoning their independence. This is because they can realize that they are individuals who are supposed to be responsible for their own actions or behaviors. When they are acclimated to take very small decisions by themselves, they would start to act on their own so their independence is fostered. What is more, with independence, not only could they reap the benefit of their studies but also obtain tangible boons in future occupations. For one thing, independent school children tend to studyspontaneously, which facilitates them getting better grades. For another, an independent person is prone to easily adapt to a new environment, especially a new working condition. This means that they could have more opportunities to find an ideal job and get promoted on the grounds that they could go to big cities, whereas dependent adolescents might need to live with their parents inremote areas. Accordingly, allowing children to decide which path to take on their own is supportive of training independent competence.
Body 2:
Furthermore, making choices by themselves empowers children to avoid regrets. To elaborate, there tend to be certain interests commonly held by all children, and to which their parents are opposed. To illustrate, it is not new that a large number of children are interested in the music industry and hope to become singers, yet their parents wish them to become engineers or teachers. This may become cause for regret in the future, with children beginning to blame their parents for determining their lives, thereby making their lives full ofcountless regrets. As a result, those children might become estranged from their parents. Hence, children taking decisions by themselves enables them to have no regrets in later life.
Admittedly, parents determining a child’s life could avoid certain risks. It is widely acknowledged that in the course of their growth teenagers confront plenty oftemptations such as drugs, alcohol, as well as pornography and some children cannot resist the lure to get involved in those fields. For instance, some might get addicted to drugs or plan to become drug dealers in the light of the potential for huge profits. In that case, their parents could help their children avert the likelihood of them accessing those temptations by determining their lives. Nevertheless, these cases only account for a small proportion of children going astray, as most children coulddifferentiate right from wrong and come to the right decision by themselves.
