After the founding of People's Republic of China, literature began to boom. Works from Soviet Union then and western countries exerted a profound influence on the Chinese literature. The themes expressed in the works of this period covered revolution history as well as the new life of nation's construction. The best known works are The Red Rock and Teahouse. After the Reform and Opening up in 1978, Chinese literature won a new prosperity with sino-foreign cultural exchanges flourishing as never before.
