linesman 邊裁
One of the people who controls the match. He carries a flag and runs up and down the touchline(邊線). There are two linesmen in a match, one for each half of the pitch(球場(chǎng)). Now more correctly called an assistant referee(助理裁判).
manager 教練(經(jīng)理)
The person who is responsible for the team. He trains the players, chooses which ones will be in the team and he also decides how they are going to play. Sometimes this job is also referred to as the coach(教練).

A game of football is called a match.

The song for a country which is usually played before international football matches.
nil 零
Zero, nothing, nought, 0. The score 1 - 0 is said:- "one nil."
officials 指 裁判
The people who control the game, the referee and assistant referees are called the officials.
out of contract 合約到期,滿約
If a player is 'out of contract' it means he is able to move to a different football club.

The period when a championship is played is a season. In England the football season is from August until September.

Kicking the ball towards the goal to try and score is a shot.

Where people watch a football from. Although today most people sit at a football match in the past it was common to stand.
striker 射手
a striker is a goalscorer.
touchline 邊線
The white line around a football pitch is the touchline. When the ball crosses the line it is 'out of play' or 'in touch'.
trophies (singular - trophy) 獎(jiǎng)品,獎(jiǎng)杯
A trophy is a prize given to a football team when they have won a competition. Usually it is a large silver cup.

To volley the ball is to kick it when it is in mid-air, it is not on the ground.
yellow card 黃牌
If a player commits a bad foul, the referee may show him a yellow card. It is a strong warning. If a player gets a second yellow card he has to leave the pitch.
