Dear Mom and Dad,

I’m finally through with all my midterm exams. I can’t say that I did as well as I hoped I would, but I didn’t do too bad, either. At least I passed all of them. I hope I can do even better on my finals.

Otherwise everything is going well. I’ve gone to a couple of football games over the past few weeks. Our team won only one game. They’re not really good, but it’s still fun to watch them play. I haven’t gone out as much in the past month because of all the tests. Don’t worry, Mom. I’m staying away from alcohol, except for a beer or two now and then.

By the way, do you think you could send me a little extra spending money? US$100 isn’t really enough.

我終于很順利的通過(guò)了期中考。我不能說(shuō)我考得和我期待的一樣好，但也不至于太差。至少，都考及格了。我希望我可以在期末考時(shí)表現(xiàn)得更好。

其它方面也都滿順利的。我在過(guò)去幾個(gè)禮拜中去看了幾場(chǎng)足球賽。我們的隊(duì)伍僅贏了一場(chǎng)球賽。他們并非很好的球員，但看他們打球仍蠻有趣。因?yàn)檫@些考試的緣故，我在過(guò)去這一個(gè)月已沒(méi)那么常出去玩了。別擔(dān)心了，老媽。我現(xiàn)在除了偶爾喝一、兩杯啤酒以外是不碰酒的。

順便一提，您們可以寄一點(diǎn)零用錢給我嗎?一百塊美金實(shí)在不太夠。

字詞解說(shuō)：

1. be through with…結(jié)束……

=be finished with. . .

=finish.，.

例;When the doctor was through with his examination, he made out a prescription for some medicine.

(醫(yī)師在看診之后就開(kāi)了藥方。)

注意:

在“as... as...”的短語(yǔ)中，第一個(gè)as為副詞，表“一樣地”，

而第二個(gè)as則為連接詞，表“和，與”之意。

例:That test wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

(那次考試沒(méi)有我所預(yù)期的那么難。)
