allow的用法

　　My father allowed me to play basketball after finishing my homework. 我的父親允許我做完作業(yè)后打籃球。

　　They do not allow smoking in public. 他們不允許在公共場合吸煙。

　　[注意] allow用于被動語態(tài)時，必須接不定式作賓語補足語，不能接動名詞形式。“Sb. / Sth. + be allowed + to do sth.”結構，也可在allow后面接介詞短語，即“Sb. / Sth. + be allowed + 介詞短語”。如：

　　Women were not allowed to take part in the games. 婦女是不允許參加這些比賽的。

　　I don't allow dogs in the house. 我不允許狗進屋。

　　2. allow意為“讓……得到;同意給予”，后面接雙賓語。如：

　　How much money does your father allow you every week? 你爸爸每周給你多少錢?

　　3. allow意為“承認”，后面可跟從句，也可跟“to be”復合賓語。如：

　　We had to allow that he was the best teacher we had met. 我們不得不承認他是我們遇到的最好的老師。

　　We must allow him to be a genius. 我們必須承認他是個天才。

　　4. allow for 表示“考慮到;體諒”。如：

　　You have to allow for the weather there. 你不得不考慮到那里的天氣。

　　5. allow還常與 out, in, up等副詞搭配使用，即 allow sb. in / out / up等。如：

　　The patient was allowed up after ten days. 十天后這位病人才被允許起床(下地)。

　　[注意] 口語中常說Allow me!(讓我來吧!)，用于表示要搶先做某事，以表示客氣。
