　　little的代詞用法和形容詞用法大家可能比較熟悉，但對(duì)于其副詞用法則可能比較生疏，本文擬專門談?wù)刲ittle的副詞用法。

　　一、用作副詞的little修飾比較級(jí)

　　副詞little修飾比較級(jí)時(shí)，主要用于修飾better和more。little better的意思是“好不了多少”，相當(dāng)于not much better;little more (than)的意思是“只”“只不過”。如：

　　His second suggestion was little better than his first. 他的第二條建議比第一條好不了多少。

　　His legs were in little better shape than they had been the year before. 他的雙腿與前一年相比沒有多少好轉(zhuǎn)。

　　He was little more than a child when his father died. 他父親去世時(shí)，他差不多還是個(gè)孩子。

　　二、用作副詞的little修飾動(dòng)詞

　　副詞1ittle修飾動(dòng)詞時(shí)，主要用于believe, care, dream, expect, guess, imagine, know, realize, suspect, think, understand等之前，表示“毫不”“根本不”等意。如：

　　We little believed that he would harm us. 我們根本不相信他會(huì)加害于我們。

　　He little expected to find himself in prison. 他幾乎沒有料到自己會(huì)進(jìn)監(jiān)獄。

　　He little knew what he had started. 他一點(diǎn)也不知道他開始干的是什么。

　　They said goodbye, little knowing that they were never to meet again. 他們道別了，完全不知道他們?cè)僖膊粫?huì)見面。

　　She little thought she would be rewarded. 她一點(diǎn)沒想她會(huì)受到酬謝。

　　注：在某些情況下也可用于動(dòng)詞之后。如：

　　I am tired because I slept very little last night. 我累了，因?yàn)槲易蛱煲估锼煤苌佟?/p>

　　另外，還要特別注意，由于副詞little具有否定意義，所以當(dāng)它被置于句首時(shí)，其后要用倒裝句式。如：

　　Little does he care whether we live or die. 他一點(diǎn)也不管我們的死活。

　　Little did I dream that such a thing would happen. 我連作夢(mèng)都沒想到會(huì)有這種事情發(fā)生。

　　Little did he realise the danger he faced. 他幾乎沒有認(rèn)識(shí)到他面臨的危險(xiǎn)。

　　用作副詞的little有時(shí)可用于復(fù)合詞中，但這種用法非常有限，主要見于little-known, little-used, little-travelled等。如：

　　It is a little-used footpath. 那是一條幾乎沒有人走的小道。

　　He’s studying the work of a little-known German novelist. 他正在研讀一位沒有什么名氣的德國(guó)小說家的作品。
