US Ambassador to South Korea Injured in Attack

美國駐韓大使在襲擊中受傷

U.S. ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert covers a cut on his face after he was attacked by a man with a knife in Seoul, March 5, 2015.

A Korean nationalist stabbed the U.S. ambassador to South Korea on Thursday. The knife attack, which took place in Seoul, has left Ambassador Mark Lippert with 80 stitchesin his face.

周二,一個韓國民族主義者刺傷美國駐韓大使。該名男子拿刀在首爾行刺,大使馬克·利珀特臉部縫了80針。

Ambassador Lippert is listed instable condition. Doctors operated to repair a deep cut in his face and cuts to his left hand.

The U.S. State Department said Thursday the reason for the attack is still unknown.

The attacker, Kim Ki-jong, reportedly told police he acted alone. When he attacked the ambassador, he reportedly said, “South and North Korea should be reunified!”

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was criticized this week for using her personal e-mail in her duties as America’s top diplomat.

On Wednesday, the Associated Press reported that Ms. Clinton had also used a personal e-mail serverbased in her family’s home in New York.

The State Department says Ms. Clinton may have violated federal record laws that require archivingofficial government documents. Most public officials use government e-mail addresses.
