Wednesday night was Quarter Finals Night, and the show kept things simple — no famous guest stars (unless those phone call clues count) and no big themes — just Clock, Gumball, Poodle Moth, and Goldfish battling it out for their chance to compete in next week's semifinals.
To that end, Clock kicked things off with “Get on Your Feet” by Gloria Estefan, Gumball performed “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, Poodle Moth sang “Price Tag” by Jessie J ft. B.o.B., and Goldfish ended the night with “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole.
為此,Clock以GloriaEstefan的《Get on Your Feet》拉開了序幕,Gumball表演了Jason Mraz的《I’m Yours》,Poodle Moth演唱了Jessie J ft.B.o.B.
This being the quarterfinals, the competition was fierce, but in the end, Gumball and Poodle Moth were sent to the Smackdown, where they each had to sing their own rendition of Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time."
And then there were three: Poodle Moth got sent back into the night, which means Gumball, Clock, and Goldfish are officially the season 11 semifinalists. When it was time to unmask the adorable costume, Robin Thicke guessed Shania Twain, Ken Jeong picked Melissa McCarthy, and Rita Ora chose Faith Hill. But it was Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg who correctly guessed Poodle Moth was none other than This Is Us star and singer Chrissy Metz.
Some fellow contestants have talked about how they sort of channeled one of their past characters into their Masked Singer characters, and your beloved Kate from This Is Us of course pursued a singing career on that show. Did you feel like you channeled Kate at all or thought of her while doing TMS?
Oh, honestly, it was sort of the other way around in that music was my first love, and so it was part of the reason why I wanted to do the show, and just educate people that I was a singer. Because some people are like, "Oh, wait, you sang in the show [This Is Us], but are you a real singer?" So yeah, it was sort of the other way around. But definitely you're always inspired by things that you've previously done.
I have to say I had no idea what a Poodle Moth was, but now I think I am obsessed with them.
I know, it's hard to believe because they are so cute, but they're very rare. And so when we were developing the costume, I know this is going to sound so cheesy, but they were like, "Let's do something that we've never seen before. It's very special and it means something because they're rare." And I was like, oh, okay. And also, I have a Bernedoodle and I'm obsessed with my dog. And so we thought about maybe doing one blue eye, one brown eye, because my dog has one blue eye and one brown eye just to sort of make it special and specific to me. But it was also just a moth coming out of their shell, and all that jazz. So there was thought behind it for sure. It was just so cute. I mean, it was a lot of costume, but she was very cute.
I know you're working on new music and you said earlier that that was your first love. Do you ever think you'd step away from acting to just pursue music?
No, I absolutely of course would want to do both. I can't imagine not doing both. But for me, music being my first love, it was something that I've always wanted to pursue. And I mean, it's one thing when you're reading the lines of other people that have established a character and then to actually share your heart and soul through your own music, it's a little scary. I knew I was always going to do it, and I just enjoy doing it, and I love songwriting, and I've been spending so much more time in Nashville than anywhere else. So it's something that I certainly would never not want to do.
