Light snow and sleet fell in Beijing Saturday morning, breaking the city's longest dry spell in at least 47 years, according to the municipal meteorological observatory.
3月17日,北京出現(xiàn)小雪和雨夾雪天氣。市氣象部門表示,本次降雪結束了北京至少47年以來最長的干旱記錄。
Dry spell指“干旱期”,這里的spell意為“一段時間”,比如,hot spell(連續(xù)高溫天氣),a spell of summer heat(持續(xù)一段時間的炙熱天氣)等。
As of Friday, the capital had recorded 145 consecutive days without "effective precipitation" .
截止3月16日,北京連續(xù)無有效降水日數(shù)已經達145天。
有效降水(effective precipitation)指的是日降水量大于或等于0.1毫米(precipitation of more than 0.1 mm in one day)。據南郊觀象臺的記錄,當日上午9點,北京市城區(qū)的平均降水量為0.3毫米。
