各位朋友好，歡迎您收聽(tīng)為旅游及服務(wù)業(yè)人員提供的初級(jí)“旅游業(yè)英語(yǔ)”第四講，我是澳洲廣播電臺(tái)的節(jié)目主持人馬健媛。第四講“入住酒店”。在第三課中，我們學(xué)習(xí)了如何在前臺(tái)迎接客人及如何說(shuō)房間的號(hào)碼，我們還學(xué)習(xí)了I’ll、和we’ll、這類的縮略語(yǔ)、有關(guān)方位的介詞及如何禮貌地表達(dá)“是”和“不是”的意思。在接下來(lái)的這一課中，我們要學(xué)習(xí)諸如“Is that OK?” 這樣的安排可以嗎? 這類的短語(yǔ)。當(dāng)你要確定客人是否滿意你的某項(xiàng)建議時(shí)，你就可以說(shuō)“Is that OK ?”這樣的安排可以嗎?另外，我們還要學(xué)習(xí)有關(guān)there is 和there are ， 和can 可以、能夠及could 可以、能夠的用法。好，在我們學(xué)習(xí)新的課程之前，首先讓我們一起來(lái)復(fù)習(xí)一下入住酒店的第一部分的對(duì)話。

Leo: Good afternoon. Can I help you?

Mona: Yes, we have a reservation for three nights. Mona White. I

called last week.

Leo: One moment please, Ms White.

Leo: Yes, that was for two single rooms, wasn’t it? I’ve reserved

rooms 402 and 403 for you.

Mona: Are they quiet rooms?

Leo: Well they are facing the street, but there’s a lovely view.

Mona: We’d like quiet rooms thanks.

Leo: Of course…

Leo: I can put you in rooms three-eleven and three-twelve. They’re

at the rear of the hotel.

Jack: Mona…

Mona: That’s much better, thank you.

Mona: Yes, Dad?

Jack: I’d like a view.

Mona: Oh. Is there a view?

Leo: Not really.

Mona: Well, we want our rooms together.

Jack: Mona…

當(dāng)我們要詢問(wèn)客人對(duì)你的建議是否滿意時(shí)，我們就可以說(shuō)Is thatOK? 此外，你還可以說(shuō)Is that alright? Is that alright? 或者說(shuō)Will that do? Will that do? 請(qǐng)注意聽(tīng)錄音并跟著說(shuō)。

也許有時(shí)您會(huì)感到在何種情況下該使用can 或could 令人疑惑，其實(shí)從某種程度上講這兩個(gè)字是可以通用的?；镜脑瓌t就是如果是你主動(dòng)提出了某項(xiàng)建議，那么就要用can, 例如: Can I helpyou? 有什么可以為您效勞的嗎?但是當(dāng)你提出某項(xiàng)請(qǐng)求時(shí)，你就要用could. 例如:Could you fill out this fomp3 please? 請(qǐng)您填一下這份表格。請(qǐng)聽(tīng)對(duì)話并跟著重復(fù)。

現(xiàn)在讓我們來(lái)學(xué)習(xí)there is 和there are 的用法。當(dāng)我們要表達(dá)某處有一個(gè)物體的時(shí)候，我們就要說(shuō)there is, 例如:there is aclock。那里有一個(gè)鬧鐘。There is 的縮略語(yǔ)是there’s,there’s a clock。那里有一個(gè)鬧鐘。此外，在描述的物體是不可數(shù)名詞時(shí)我們也要使用there is 。不可數(shù)名詞包括茶葉、水或糖等

等。例如“ There’s tea in the room” 。房間里備有茶葉。在描述復(fù)數(shù)的物體時(shí)，我們一定要使用there are， 而且這個(gè)表述方法沒(méi)有縮略語(yǔ)形式，這一點(diǎn)請(qǐng)您特別注意。例如:there are two guests in the lobby 酒店大廳有兩位客人。There are teamakingfacilities in every room。每個(gè)房間都有煮茶的設(shè)施。請(qǐng)注意聽(tīng)下面的對(duì)話并跟著重復(fù)。
