Last year I travelled to the United States.Before I set off, I wrote a letter to a hotel to make room reservation, The letter runs as follows:
"I should like to book a room for myself from August 2nd to 22nd.I require a single room with a bath and a telephone.
I am arriving in San Francisco on the afternoon of the 2nd.As I don't know the city,could you tell me how to get from the airport to your hotel when you confirm the booking?"

In the United States,hotel rooms can be reserved in advance.If you plan to travel,it is always a good idea to book your room ahead of time.This will save you a lot of trouble of looking for a room,especially during the busy time of the year.
Hotels are in the city but motels are usually along the road.They provide lodging and parking facilities.At a motel you can drive your car right up to the front of your room.
