解詞釋義:

dig dirt about somebody是美國(guó)俚語(yǔ),字面意思是“挖某人的東西”,其實(shí)際意思是“講某人的壞話”“揭露別人丑事” 。

4.after one’s money:追求金錢(qián)

Eg.Besides, her object was not purely mercenary.

Eg.He' d swear on all the Bibles in the world that he wasn' t after her money.

他會(huì)對(duì)著全世界的《圣經(jīng)》發(fā)誓,表白自已并非追求她的金錢(qián)。

Eg.To care for wisdom and truth and he improvement of the soul is far better than to seek money and honour and reputation.

尊重知識(shí),追求真理和凈化心靈,要比追求金錢(qián)、榮譽(yù)和名聲高尚得多。
