Go off the deep end的意思是“不要魯莽沖動”。其英文解釋為： to act irrationally, following one'semotions or fantasies。
此語源于游泳。游泳池一段水深，一端水淺。如果一個人不知道水的深淺，從深水的一頭跳入池子里，那他就跳進了沒底的深水中。如果這個人又不識水性，就糟糕了。這樣做事相當魯莽沖動的。
