第21單元 失蹤
Mr. Nicolas waited. All the other kids were gone. Where was his son, Mark? It was 3:30. Mark got out of the school by 3:00. He was getting impatient. He went into the school to see if anyone has seen Mark.
尼可拉斯先生還在繼續(xù)等著，其他所有小孩都走了，但是他兒子馬克呢?已經(jīng)下午三點(diǎn)半了，馬克應(yīng)該三點(diǎn)就放學(xué)了。他開始有點(diǎn)不耐煩，便走進(jìn)學(xué)?？纯从袥]有人看到馬克。
His teacher said that he left with the other kids. Mr. Nicolas began to panic. He checked the schoolgrounds. One of the other kids said they saw Mark get into a car with a strange man. Who was the man? Mr. Nicolas called the police. He said his son was missing.
他老師說他是和其他孩子一起離開的，這一來尼可拉斯先生開始慌了。他到學(xué)校操場(chǎng)察看時(shí)，有幾個(gè)人小孩說他們看到馬克和一個(gè)陌生人進(jìn)入一輛車子里。那個(gè)人是誰呢?尼可拉斯先生趕緊報(bào)警，說他兒子失蹤了。
Soon, everyone was looking for Mark. They checked all the parks, the malls, and the bus stations. He was nowhere. Mr. Nicolas went home, every saddened by the events of the day. When he walked in the door, he saw Mark. "Dad, where have you been all day?" Mr. Nicolas was shocked. "Mark, where have you been all day? I was worried about you."
不久之后，大家便動(dòng)員起來尋找馬克;他們找遍了所有的公園、購(gòu)物中心和公車站，但是都不見馬克的蹤影。最后尼可拉斯先生只好先回家，今天發(fā)生的事情讓他覺得很難過;結(jié)果他一進(jìn)門卻看見馬克。“爸，你一整天都跑哪里去了?”尼可拉斯先生大吃一驚。“馬克，那你一整天又都跑哪里去了?我好擔(dān)心你。”
"Oh," said MArk. "Mr. Smith, the next door neighbor, gave me a ride home. I have been here all day." Mr. Nicolas hugged his son. He was glad Mark was safe.
“哦，”馬克說：“是隔壁鄰居史密斯先生順路載我回家啦。我一整天都在這里。”尼可拉斯先生緊緊抱住他兒子，很高興馬克平安無事。
