David：I’d like to ask what your friends have as hobbies.

能知道你的朋友有些什么愛(ài)好嗎?

You：Some of my friends like to get physical, so they play volleyball. I have other friends whoenjoy traveling. Some of them really get around.

有些人好動(dòng)，所以他們打排球。還有些朋友喜歡旅游，他們中的一些人確實(shí)去了好多地方。

David：Is playing volleyball a very popular hobby?

他們都很喜歡打籃球嗎?

You：Yeah, volleyball is popular with my friends, but they don’t live in the same city as me.

是的，我的朋友們都很喜歡，但遺憾的是他們不和我住在同一城市。

David：When I visit the students in universities, I find many students like to play basketball.Maybe more boys like to play basketball and more girls like to play volleyball.

我問(wèn)過(guò)許多大學(xué)生，發(fā)現(xiàn)他們都喜歡打籃球。男孩兒可能更喜歡打籃球，而女孩兒則更喜歡打排球。

You：Maybe girlls do like play volleyball. Basketball is faster than volleyball. So, that's could bethe reason.

女孩兒確實(shí)喜歡打排球。籃球比排球節(jié)奏要快，這也許就是原因吧。

David：Basketball is much rougher than volleyball. Just look at how rough the NBA is.

籃球比排球激烈得多，看看NBA就知道了。

You：Yeah, the NBA is intense. Michael Jordan is my favourite player. I like to watch him playon TV.

哦，NBA確實(shí)很激烈。喬丹是我最喜歡的運(yùn)動(dòng)員，我喜歡看有他的比賽。

David：I also find many students like to play badminton. Is badminton also very popular?From what you say, I find volleyball, basketball and badminton are all very popular.

我也發(fā)現(xiàn)許多學(xué)生喜歡打羽毛球。羽毛球也很流行嗎?聽(tīng)你所說(shuō)，我覺(jué)得排球，籃球和羽毛球在學(xué)生中都很流行。

You：They say volleyball is not as popular as basketball.

他們說(shuō)排球沒(méi)有籃球受歡迎。

David：Maybe it is more popular for girls?

多數(shù)女孩子們更喜歡排球吧?

You：I think you are right. Do you like playing basketball?

是的，你喜歡打籃球嗎?

David：No, I like to play soccer. Some people get confused with the name of this sport inEnglish. In th US, “ ganlanqiu” is called football and “zuqiu” is called soccer. But in England, “zuqiu” is called football and “ganlanqiu” is known as “American football”.

不，我喜歡足球。一些人可能對(duì)英式和美式足球有些不解。在美國(guó)，美式橄欖球稱(chēng)做football，而足球叫做soccer;但是在英國(guó)，人們稱(chēng)足球?yàn)閒ootball，而稱(chēng)美式橄欖球叫American football。
