For all of them, after a long time being far away in the harsh ground of war, they returndifferent from what they were when they left. Surely, their faith in themselves is shadowed bythe fear of not knowing what is expected of them next.
And no matter what your view of those wars over there, you can affect a future of our nationright here...by taking their fears head-on. You can imprint the very next pages of the historyof our troubled world by reinforcing the faith of those returning veterans. Allowing them torest, aiding in their recovery, if possible, there's completely recovery, so let those of us whowatch the debate of longer promise serve them now as they served when they were asked, andit was they were ordered. Let's provide for them their place free from fear, by educating them, ifthey can learn; by plying them as they transition from a soldier back to a citizen, ...and byempathizing with the new journey they are starting even though we will never fullyunderstand the journey they just completed. We all will define the true nature of ourAmerican identity, not by the parades and the welcome home parties, but how we match theirtime in the service with service of our own.
