sit tight這個說法是來自撲克牌游戲，有的時候，一個參加游戲的人本可以繼續(xù)玩，但是他放棄叫牌的機會而選擇觀望的態(tài)度，形容“不采取任何行動，耐心等待、堅持主張、靜待事態(tài)的發(fā)展”。現(xiàn)在我們常用這個習慣用語告誡人們：“不要著急，請耐心等待”。因此，當美國人說"Sit tight, please."時，他/她要表達的意思就是:"Wait patiently, please."、"Hold your horses, please."。

情景對白：
